Lawrence Grotts grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Macomb Community College’s Center for the Performing Arts for theater, music and cinematic arts studies. Along with his college theater appearances, Lawrence performed in several summer stock musicals and local theatrical productions. In addition to his acting, he was a featured dancer in the Detroit City Dance Company and the East and Company Dance Collective under the direction of Dennis East.

Now living in NYC, Lawrence has been fortunate enough to have been able to recently leave his career as a music industry executive and direct his focus back on his passion for acting. In less than a week of his decision to wholly dive into the acting profession in early October 2007, he hit the street running booking his very first audition and securing a principal role in a Jim Cramer’s ‘Mad Money’ CNBC/Universal commercial.

Since then, Lawrence continues to lay the foundation for his career. He’s involved and featured in numerous film and TV projects, including ABC’s ‘Life on Mars’, NBC’s ‘Law & Order’ and new series ‘Kings’, CBS’s ‘As The World Turns’ and the Independent Film Channel original series ‘Z Rock.’

On the silver screen, Lawrence will be appearing in the 2009 Columbia Pictures feature ‘The Taking of Pelham 123’ as a NYPD Hostage Negotiator directed by Tony Scott (starring John Travolta, Denzel Washington and James Gandolfini); the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival’s screening of Steven Soderbergh's ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ (starring Sasha Grey); the Raymond De Felitta helmed ‘City Island’ (starring Andy Garcia); the Bette Gordon directed ‘Handsome Harry’ (starring Jamey Sheridan, Steve Buscemi and Aidan Quinn); and the 2010 Columbia Pictures release ‘Salt’ directed by Phillip Noyce (starring Angelina Jolie).

Most recently, Lawrence has been filming and will star in the independent films ‘The Other Side of Tomorrow’, ‘The Nothing Man’, ‘Cod Farthing’, ‘2021’ and a supporting role in the film ‘Epiphany.’ All five films will bmse screening and going to festivals worldwide, 2009-2010.
